It’s Something

Well, I was up all night watching video tutorials and going over my notes, and I finally figured out what I want to do and how I’m going to do it (sort of)….

In the picture, I have the main screen and two levels that follow. The main screen will display Pre-Hot 100 Singles and Hot 100 Singles, which the user will choose from. The second level will have a list of years, either 1940-1958 or 1958-2018, and they will enter the year they would like to see. On the third level, it will display the number one singles for that year.

This is where the tricky part comes in… I would like to have it so if the user wants to listen to one of the songs, they enter the number of the song and their browser will open up and play the corresponding video, but I think I will have to just have a link show up for them to copy and paste into the browser because I can’t seem to figure out how to get that to work.

I am really excited about this, and I feel really confident with my project. No, it’s nothing original, but it’s mine and that’s good enough for me!

It’s Starting!

Today marks the day that I start my CLI project for school. I never thought I would get to this point, but I am very excited to finally be here. I created a page, which will act like a diary of how I’m doing on the project, as well as my thoughts throughout the process.

I have finally gained enough control over my emotions that I’m using them to work for me instead of against me, and doing that was a major feat in itself and I’m beyond proud of it!

On top of this project, I will be getting back into blogging more regularly and I will be starting up my game streams again, so I will be extremely busy and productive!

A bit more of good news… I got a job! I will be starting on the 30th as a barista at the local coffee shop.

I am very happy with how my life is going right now, and I’m happy for staying put and getting to this point in my life. No, this isn’t where I imagined I would be when I was daydreaming about my life when I was in middle school, but I’m proud of the person I’ve become. I’m driven and smart, and I have so much that I want to do.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day/night, and I will see you all tomorrow!

Another Roadblock

Don’t you just love it when you feel motivated to do tons of work and then your virtual machine decided to act up and the repositories aren’t cloning properly? Me too! I already have problems focusing paired with anger issues and anxiety, so this just triggers the perfect trifecta!

I am doing my best to keep calm and not give my laptop swimming lessons. I need to step away from the virtual and physical machines for a while and maybe watch some TV. I just wanted to get some work done, and I guess that’s not written in the stars for me right now!

I hope everyone has a good and relaxing night! I will be here staring at my virtual machine, waiting for it to shut down!

A Long Night Ahead

Early this morning, it came to my attention that my school added a lot of work to the curriculum. They added new lessons to existing sections, and a ton of new sections. I will be spending tonight playing catch up with all the new information provided.

I don’t mind learning, I will probably always be a student in one way or another. I do have an issue, though… My notes! I have a very organized binder with a table of contents and page numbers. The new sections will be easy to add in, but the new lessons in the old sections are the issue. I am going to be creating an addendum for the new pages of notes I will have to add so I don’t have to rewrite my table of contents or redo all of the page numbers.

I have a meeting in the morning with an educational coach, and I want to really impress them, so I’m pulling an all night study session! I’m really nervous about this meeting, even though it will be fine. I do well in meetings and interviews, so I have nothing to worry about, but I’m still freaking out!

I’m going to watch a few videos to relax before I dive into my night of work. Wish me luck!

Like Riding a Bike

When I sat down to do my school work today, I thought I was going to have to review my notes for hours. Instead, I picked up where I left off and pushed on! I didn’t do much coding, but I did a lot of reading and took notes on pretty much everything!

When I took my student orientation, the speaker said that we wouldn’t need to take excessive notes. He said that because coding has such a great and welcoming community, that we will always be able to ask for help or find answers on the internet. I, however, didn’t listen and now I take not only title and number every single page in my binder, but take notes on everything, as well.

I can’t retain information unless I say it out loud and write it down. If the lesson I’m working on has a 5-minute video, it will take me around 30 minutes to take notes on it. I write down all the sample codes and shortcuts and make footnotes to help me remember. I’m even talking out loud as I type this. If I didn’t do any of this, my mind would be blank.

I have found that since I started coding and creating again, that my cognitive and analytical skills have become stronger, as well as I have been able to feel a sense of accomplishment with each lesson I complete. Coding essentially gave me a second chance and I’m truly happy.

Tomorrow, I will probably write about my educational journey thus far. It’s truly an interesting story, and I would love to tell it!
