Sheer Pink

First day of getting through my nail polish and I didn’t read what color it was. I assumed it was a dull pink, but it was sheer! I know I will have to go through every bottle of nail polish on my shelf, but I was hoping for something a little more exciting that a sheer polish!

left + right

It didn’t turn out too bad; obviously my left looks better than my right, but that’s part of why I’m doing this! I think I’ll call this look “I dipped my fingers in melted candy”. The nail polish went on smooth, and I did do two coats of this in hopes that it wouldn’t be as see-through, but I only ended up making a bit of a mess.

All in all, I enjoyed it! I did think my right hand was going to turn out way worse than it did, so I am pleasantly surprised! I can’t wait to get through the rest of the sheer polishes so I can get into all the fun colors!

With this side quest in my overall goal, I’m going to have to start revamping the site so everything is in a section and easier to find. I will probably start construction over the weekend so I don’t get overwhelmed with everything I need to do!

The lesson I’ve learned from all of this is just because it looks like one color in the bottle, doesn’t mean it will look like that on your nails!

An Interesting Day

Today was an interesting one, to say the least. After publishing my first post of the day, I immediately felt sick, but I powered through to get this done! Above is the before and after of my makeup, which took me about 2 hours to do because I kept spacing out!

After my makeup was finally finished, I went into my closet to get the dress which wasn’t where I thought it was. I didn’t see it on my garment rack at first which lead me to search the back room downstairs. I was becoming frustrated, so I took a deep breath and looked in my closet one more time, and it was staring me right in the face! I have no idea how I missed it the first time, but I’ll blame it on me being sick.

Then, once I had my makeup done and my dress on, it was time for the photo shoot, but what’s a photo shoot without any problems? I don’t know! When I went to turn my camera on, the battery was dead. It’s winter so I didn’t have time to change the battery before the sun went down. I just used my phone.

I decided since it was so nice out today, that I would take my pictures outside.

Snow pics

I was absolutely freezing! I like how the pictures turned out, but never again without pants and a jacket! I also thought it would be a good idea to wear 4-inch heeled boots with ice and snow on the ground! I’m just having an off day, but I got it done! I’m really happy with how my makeup turned out today, especially my lipstick; I guess lip liner is great at keeping lipstick in its place!

Once I finished taking the photos, I ran inside, got back into my pajamas, wiped my lipstick off and took a nap. I love sleeping when it’s snowing or raining, I find it very relaxing to watch.

I really hope I’m not sick, but I know that I am. I’m just not sure if it’s something I caught, or my new medication. I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough! For now, though, I’m going to try to get some more sleep! I don’t really have anything planned for tomorrow, but I’m pretty good at thinking on my feet!

First Day with Makeup

So I finally got to this point. I cleaned, organized and prepared all so I could start doing my makeup.

When I sat down at my vanity, I felt extremely overwhelmed and I wasn’t going to do it. After a minute or so, I started and didn’t stop for 1.5 hours! Primer, foundation, and powders took about 30 minutes; trying to get an even complexion is way harder than I thought.

After that was eye shadow, which I really don’t know how to properly use. I know it goes on the lid and that there’s supposed to be layering and blending, but I just throw one color on and that’s it.

Eyeliner was a disaster. The photo doesn’t do the bad job justice. My hands were shaking and it looks like I have never done eyeliner before in my life. In my defense, I was using a new felt pen but I shouldn’t have messed up that badly.

Finally, as I reached the end of the hour and a half, I threw on mascara, lip stick and I was done. I forgot to use my finishing spray, but I wasn’t going out so that’s okay!

I got powder all over myself and my vanity, dropped about 6 brushes, and pinched my eyelid with my eyelash curler. I think the result looks great, and I know I am going to be doing this again tomorrow.

I didn’t get to all of my goals today, but seeing how I look with makeup on gave me a huge confidence boost and it makes me want to be able to see myself like this everyday. The only thing I need to really figure out right now is how to do my hair and not letting it air dry with curl cream in it!

Today was a success! Hoping this is the start of something great!

My Vanity is Clean!

I accomplished what I set out to do today! I cleaned up my vanity and everything is organized… sadly, I learned that I have a serious makeup hoarding problem!

I kept track of everything and here are the totals:

  • Powders/foundation – 20
  • Eye shadow pallets – 13
  • Eye shadow pots – 8
  • Bronzer/blush/highlighter – 2
  • Eyeliner – 12
  • Mascara – 8
  • Fake eyelashes – 5 pairs
  • Nail polish – 153 in my room
  • Lipstick/gloss – 93
  • Lip pallets – 2

I started off with the drawer on the right, which was a bit of a disaster. It is now dedicated to powders, foundation and eye shadow.

Drawer 1 - before + after

I then moved onto the drawer to my left, which was surprisingly clean. It now holds eyeliner, mascara, a cup of hair ties and clips, fake eyelashes and a small box of nail polish.

Drawer 2 - before + after

They’re still a disaster, but an organized disaster and I can deal with that! I do, however, have a problem… I don’t know how I will get through all of my lip products and nail polish.

Nail and Lip

I mean, that’s a ridiculous! I have way too much makeup and beauty products for someone who rarely does their makeup. That’s going to change, though!

Starting tomorrow, I will be adding makeup and nails to my daily routine. I can honestly say that it’s going to take me a while to get through all of it, especially since I barely use any of it properly!

I guess it’s time to settle in for the night so I can wake up and start being a girl.

The Mystery of the White Button

Day 2 of laundry, and I came across a white button in the dryer. I will be spending tomorrow morning going through my clothes as well as finishing up my laundry to figure out where the button belongs.

I don’t recall any of my clothes having round, white buttons, but that doesn’t mean anything; my memory is truly terrible.

It’s getting late and I’m tired from today. This weekend I will be finishing up my cleaning and working on a logo, and hopefully by Monday, I will be moving onto the second phase of this project as well as picking up school and work again. I know there will be speed bumps, but that doesn’t mean I have to give up.

Clothes Mountain: End of Day 1

As my day comes to a close, I got about three baskets of laundry done.

I don’t really have much else to report. I feel like I have another day or two of laundry before I get everything sorted away.

I’m proud and extremely tired from running up and down the stairs.

Tomorrow is another day! I can’t wait to be done with this and move onto the next part of my project!

Another Thing off my List!

In only an hour, I cleaned up my entire dresser! The top is now semi-organized, and the drawers are in better shape.

The dresser is a work in progress, and the items will continue to be moved around one I do all my laundry and make a plan for where everything needs to go.

A lot of the trash, once again, was a bunch of bags, and various clothing tags that I’ve collected over the years. I found move jewelry, and a few cards and notes from my grandmother.

Tomorrow starts the first day of demolishing Clothes Mountain and finally getting the laundry baskets out of my room. I’m hoping to get rid of a lot of my old clothes, but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Cleaning isn’t hard, it’s just repetitive and tiring. I’m starting to enjoy doing this, and I can’t wait for it to be done!

Baby Steps!

Today, I set out to clean my closet and I did it! There’s still a couple of small boxes in there I have to go through, but I can actually walk in there now and begin to organize my clothes.

I found a lot of interesting things during my closet adventure:

  • Candy stash that I forgot about (and threw away)
  • A metric ton of bags
  • Too many recipes
  • Small pile of clothes
  • Pokémon cards
  • Christmas ornaments and lights
  • Enough hangers to start a hanger wholesale shop

and finally… the floor! I found the floor! I forgot how spacious my closet was.

Now that my closet is clean and tidy, I can take on my dresser and start doing laundry for the next week (I do have clean clothes, but I have more that need to be washed). After everything is in its place, and I’ve gotten rid of the stuff I no longer use or need, I can finally start on my main goal: to become more feminine.

I feel accomplished, and I’m extremely proud of myself. I spent about 2 hours this morning just staring at the door, dreading the thought of even entering that space, and now all I want to do is keep going and re-discover my forgotten treasures!
